Measuring what matters in AI literacy education
Assessment is built into the curriculum rather than added to it. Every quiz and quest question is tagged to one of seven UNESCO-aligned competency domains and to a concept, which is what makes both of the studies below possible.

- Topic completion · 100 students across three Grade 5 sections · 12 weeks
- 100 → 600+
- Students · School extended the program across Grades 3–8 after the pilot
The school's decision to extend from 100 students to more than 600 is the finding.
One session a week in the school's ICT period, 40 to 60 minutes, running Module 1. Teachers took an onboarding session and an implementation workshop, then led every session themselves, using the dashboard.
“We wanted our students to learn how AI works, think critically about it, and use it responsibly — not just learn basic computer skills.”

- Program completion · 30 students, 24 topics, two modules, 12 weeks
- 66%
- Average mastery across seven competency domains · Platform assessment
The first end-to-end delivery of two full modules. Thirty students completed all 24 topics and roughly 350 activities each, across about 10,500 activity completions in total.
Mastery ranged from 57% in AI Literacy and Digital Citizenship to 81% in Creative AI Use. Between Module 1 and Module 2, six of the seven domains improved and one, Digital Citizenship, fell.
Where students were strong, and where they were not
Creative AI Use was the strongest domain. AI Literacy and Digital Citizenship were the weakest, both at 57%. Concept-level reporting is what makes that visible, and it is the same view a school gets for its own class.
| Competency domain | Mastery |
|---|---|
| Creative AI Use | 81% |
| Data Literacy | 69% |
| Ethical AI | 69% |
| Media Literacy | 68% |
| Critical Thinking | 59% |
| AI Literacy | 57% |
| Digital Citizenship | 57% |
How we report a number
Every figure on this page names the study it came from, the cohort, the dates and the kind of measurement. None is a controlled comparison and none has been independently replicated. Both studies were run by Wizar with Wizar's own instrument.
A gain figure needs a measurement taken before teaching starts. Every pilot takes one in its first session.

A pilot runs one grade band, with the assessment from the first session. You see what the children could do at the end of it.
